Jolyka Bolivia, S.R.L.

www.jolyka.com

Jolyka dedicates itself to the sustainable production of high-quality parquet flooring, based upon a conscious commitment to protect the environment and promote the social well-being of Bolivian society. The company uses non-traditional wood species and exports finished flooring to the United States and Germany. It does not offer any products manufactured from endangered species.

Jolyka is the first Bolivian company to receive the Forest Stewardship Council's "Chain of Custody" certification. This certification tracks timber throughout the manufacturing and distribution process to the final product, guaranteeing that the product has come from a forest that is being managed according to agreed social and environmental standards.

Jolyka’s responsible timber management is helping to protect Bolivia’s tropical Andean forests, which are more vast than those of Central America and Mexico combined and are considered an epicenter of global biodiversity. Unfortunately, deforestation, poor protected area management, and pollution threaten much of this diversity.

Jolyka allocates a percentage of its earnings to local nonprofit organizations that contribute to conservation. The company provides this assistance to Fundación Jolyka and to Fundación Protección del Medio Ambiente Tarija, PROMETA, a Nature Conservancy partner located in southern Bolivia.

Fundación Jolyka is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the sustainable management, conservation and regeneration of forest resources. The foundation supports initiatives that contribute to the growth of forest reserves in protected areas and national parks. PROMETA works in four protected areas of Bolivia: the Tariquia Flora and Fauna National Reserve, El Corbalán Natural Heritage Private Reserve, Sama Biological Reserve, and the Aguaragúe National Park.

EcoEnterprises Fund co-financed this investment with Small Enterprises Assistance Fund's Fondo de Capital Activo de Bolivia, the Fondo Rotativo Investión Fomento, and with U.S. and Bolivian private investors.

Investing in companies. Investing in communities. Investing in conservation.
