Investing in Innovation EcoEnterprises Fund is a cutting-edge initiative, breaking traditional barriers between the private and nonprofit sectors and building a powerful financial model with the potential to transform the way business and conservation are achieved. It is the only fund of its kind to focus on an otherwise neglected niche of projects – those undertaken by nonprofit and community organizations in collaboration with the private sector. Because the Fund only provides financing for up to 50% of any single venture, all contributions to the Fund leverage additional financing for each investment. Every dollar will be matched again by investors in the portfolio businesses. If you are an individual, institution, or accredited investor, EcoEnterprises Fund provides an innovative opportunity to meet financial goals. Accredited investors are invited to purchase shares directly in the venture fund (minimum investment of $50,000; investments are not tax-deductible). The venture fund is incorporated as a Panamanian investment company, Fondo EcoEmpresas, S.A. Shareholders meet twice annually and receive periodic financial statements, portfolio supervision reports, and summaries of prospective projects. Returns on investment will be distributed at the end of the Fund’s life. Investments in EcoEnterprises Fund involve risk but also offer the potential to reap financial rewards and make a significant contribution toward environmental conservation in some of Latin America and the Caribbean’s most diverse and captivating landscapes. Donors who prefer to support the venture capital activities of The Nature Conservancy, a tax-exempt not-for-profit organization that is contracted to serve as fund manager of EcoEnterprises Fund, may make tax-deductible gifts of any amount to The Nature Conservancy.
